Bostan authorities in Pishin, Balochistan caught 3 men under arrest for allegedly hunting a Markhor in a reserved area illegally. Confirming the arrests, Deputy Commissioner Zahid Khan stated they were made as part of an operation during which the captured animal was also recovered.
The suspects: Izhar Khan, Masoor Khan, and Saddam Khan face prosecution under the Wildlife Act. Two among them have reported being employed with Balochistan Constabulary and Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA). The cases proceeding against the accused are said to be active.

It highlights the actually existing problems in wildlife protection. A similar case occurred in 2021 when a dying endangered Markhor was shot and injured by a tourist in Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The poor animal fell off a river into between Garam Chashma road but was retrieved after much effort.
Social media coverage drew sufficient attention for KP MPA Faisal Amin Khan to go ahead and announce that an FIR had already been filed against the criminals.
