Germany welcomed the New Year with the horrible deaths of five people and the serious injury of a police officer in fireworks-related accidents. Such events show the very threat with which this country entertains fireworks at New Year celebrations.
Incidents Reported:
Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia:
A 24-year-old buried skeleton detonated a pyrotechnic rocket he had made.
Oschatz, Saxony:
A 45-year-old man died because of severe head injuries from an F4 category firework that requires a special permit for purchase.

Hartha, Saxony:
A 50-year-old man died almost immediately due to head injuries while trying to set off a pyrotechnic pipe bomb. On a stretch near Hamburg.
A 20-year-old lost his life while fighting a pyrotechnic firework
Kremen, one of the areas around Berlin:
Inappropriate manipulation of pyrotechnics caused another fifth victim. Three others suffered severe injuries under the same condition.

Law Enforcement and Public Safety:
Thirteen law enforcement officers suffered injuries, one of them seriously.
Across Berlin, 330 people were nabbed overnight. No significant reports of violence are accounted for this year’s chaos.
Such accidents again bring the call for stricter regulations or absolute bans of the strongest fireworks to prevent such occurrences in the future.
