5 Schengen Visa Applications in 2024: Luxembourg, Estonia, Slovakia, Latvia, Slovenia

The Schengen Area continues to be a top travel destination for people worldwide, having enormous sites and lively cities. While many travelers can very easily access the area, some people cannot avoid visiting if they do not secure a Schengen visa.

According to SchengenVisaInfo data, these are the countries that received the fewest Schengen visa applications in 2024:

Luxembourg: Luxembourg only received 11,227 visa applications in 2024, which is the lowest number across all 26 Schengen countries, making up only 0.1% of the total applications of 10.3 million. Most applicants came from India, Türkiye, China, and Russia, making up 64.5% (7,251 applications) of the total.

Estonia: Estonia cleared just 13,190 applications for visas; it is the second lowest in the EU. With an exceptionally low approval rate of just 61%, the majority of Estonia applications came from Russians, Indians, Turks, Belarusians, and UK citizens, adding up to 70.1% (9,250 applications) for the total.

Slovakia: Slovakia just topped that of Estonia and received 13468 applications. Most originated from Türkiye, the UAE, and India, filing 2519, 1678, and 1332 applications, respectively. Egypt also significantly contributed with 1,012 applications.

Latvia: Latvia had 18897 processing visa applications for the year 2024, ‘s approval rate remained high at nearly 87%, third among the Schengen countries. Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, the UK, Russia, and Türkiye were the major applications for Latvia.

Slovenia: Slovenia had an intake of 19,990 applications with an approval rate of 63 percent. Chief applicants here were Kosovo nationals (4,095), Indians (2,827), and Türkiye nationals (2,671).
