Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PSX: PPL) states that there was the discovery in the Sujawal district of Sindh for gas/condensate.
After evaluating in-house acquired data, another exploratory zone/formation Upper Sand (C-Sand) has been identified and discovered Gas/Condensate at Upper Sand (C-Sand) reservoir from Pateji X-1 well, Shah Bandar Block.
This well was drilled, tested, and discovered in Shah Bandar Block, operated by a Company having 63 percent working interest and participating in 32, 2.5, and 2.5 percent, respectively, into the joint venture between Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), Sindh Energy Holding Company Limited (SEHCL), and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL).

After bath and vigorous internal G and G assessment, the exploration well Pateji X-1 was spudded on 11th October 2024 and drilled down to 2,475 meters (measured depth) to test the hydrocarbon potential of Upper Sands of Lower Goru Formation. Potential hydrocarbon-bearing zones were identified based on the drilling results and acquired wireline logs data.
The well, during testing, flowed at the rate of 12.4 Million Standard Cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas and 196 barrels per day of condensate. This was against Wellhead Flowing Pressure (WHFP) 2,551 psig at 32/64 choke from Lower Goru Upper Sands (C-Sand).
This discovery will also contribute additional hydrocarbon reserves towards alleviating the country’s existing energy crisis and save significant foreign exchange through indigenous hydrocarbon production.
