On Thursday, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed off 96 properties and demolished many illegal structures in various areas in Lahore. This operation, which was carried out by LDA Director General Tahir Farooq, will continue as part of the targeted efforts to curb illegal constructions and enforce building regulations.
The operation covered different localities, including Gulberg, New Garden Town, Faisal Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Shadman, and Gulshan Ravi. In total, 33 properties were sealed in Gulberg, New Garden Town, and Faisal Town; another 33 in Allama Iqbal Town; and 30 in Shadman and Gulshan Ravi. The properties sealed included those of private schools, offices, cafes, bakeries, restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, salons, and shops.

Apart from sealing the properties, the LDA teams demolished an illegal construction at Wapda Town Defence Road and College Road Township. Multiple notices were served to property owners beforehand to exercise effects on contraventions before enforcement action was taken.
Chief Town Planner Dr. Asad-ul-Zaman supervised the operation, assisted by Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali. DG LDA Tahir Farooq reiterated the commitment of the authority to legal construction and development practices. “We will continue to act against illegal commercial buildings, tax defaulters, and unauthorized constructions,” he stated.
