A gunfight broke out between the police and two suspected militants on Thursday when they opened fire on a police patrol while riding a motorcycle.
The police said the suspects fired on the police patrol, and police retaliated, injuring both suspects, who succumbed before reaching the hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the dead were history-sheeters responsible for several attacks on police personnel in the city.
Following the incident, senior police officials arrived on the scene and directed authorities to step up security in the vicinity. One police vehicle suffered damage during the exchange, but no officers sustained injuries.
The deceased suspects were taken to the hospital for autopsy and identification purposes as the investigation continues.
