A meeting chaired by federal minister for finance and revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, which took place at the Finance Division, was convened to discuss releasing IMT Spectrum for 5G mobile broadband services in Pakistan.
Discussion Points
The meeting reviewed the progress made by NERA, the US-based consulting firm hired by the PTA in November 2024. NERA is given the task to conduct market analysis, and stakeholder engagement, and generate recommendations for the needed reforms and roadmap for a successful spectrum auction by April next year.

The finance minister stated how important the digital economy is with regard to digital integration within the state and how it plays a pivotal role in the student’s outcomes. He also mentioned the government’s efforts in connecting and bettering digital infrastructure so that the new digital technologies can reach maximum citizens for socio-economic development and sustainable goals.
