The recent violent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests has reportedly caused significant economic losses, estimated at 192 billion rupees per day. The Interior Ministry condemned the actions of PTI and its supporters, accusing them of attempting to create divisions and spread fake news.
The protests, which began on November 26, saw clashes with law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in Islamabad’s Red Zone. Despite being deployed without live ammunition, the protests turned violent, leading to injuries and damage to property.

The Ministry emphasized that the leadership of PTI did not control the violent mob and instead fled the area, highlighting the use of social media by PTI to spread misinformation about the events. They stated that the people of Pakistan, including those from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reject this violent and extremist streak of politics.
The Ministry also noted that LEAs have sustained injuries and losses while trying to maintain order, and condemned the baseless allegations and malicious designs behind the vicious propaganda. They called for accountability under relevant laws for those trying to sow divisions and hatred.
