After the closing down of the Project Management Unit (PMU), the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) will now assume the responsibility of supervising the Rawalpindi Ring Road project. Officially from December 2, the original project overseeing has now entirely come to the RDA.
As stated by Murtaza Kinza, Director General, RDA, all the officials from PMU have resigned, and now all documents and records about the project have been turned over to the RDA.
This PMU was formed back in 2019 and has been maintained with the caretaker government funds. However, the government thought it best that the RDA carry out the project without the cost overheads of PMU salaries and operations.

To this end, all engineering and financial departments are assigned to the RDA for easy management of the project. Payments will also continue for the project without any hindrance as soon as funds are available, says Murtaza. She emphasized that Work by the contractor will be regularly inspected to ensure compliance with the project plan.
The engineering department will also see daily monitoring of this site. The Punjab government has also issued directions to the RDA to maintain specific quality standards and finish the project within a stipulated timeline, though this might be extended till September 2025 at the most.
