The new government measures for smog control in Punjab have established stringent vehicle regulations. One of its latest standards was not to issue M tags to vehicles that have no valid fitness certificate.
Such a measure was triggered as another step of the government to abolish air pollution. All vehicle owners will have to bring a Fitness Certificate with the Registration Book and License while applying for the M-tag.
Older vehicles of around 30 years will not be allowed entry into the city of Lahore from October to January. Such older vehicles will not be permitted to travel on motorways under this rule as well.

According to Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, these rules are extremely necessary considering the awfully prevailing smog in the region. Initially, the government vehicles will come under this regulation.
As per the newly imposed directive, A government vehicle detail will be made available by the Services and General Administration Department. The government is very adamant about not allowing these rules for private and commercial vehicles.
