A dramatic fire broke out in a massive portion of the fourth story of Rimpa Plaza located on MA Jinnah Road, Karachi, and within a short while engulfed the fifth story, wreaking havoc. Immediately after the alarm was raised, Rescue 1122’s fire brigade vehicles, ambulances, and a snorkel were dispatched to the location.
The flames raged on, but salvation came for all within the building as they were spared the fate of the inferno. The most fortunate of all was that none perished in the inferno, although firefighting teams had to endure extreme conditions owing to improper ventilation in the building. However, after hours of strenuous efforts, they brought the blaze under control.

The Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, took immediate notice of the incident and ordered all hastened measures to put the fire out. He mandated the Karachi commissioner to provide a report in detail concerning the event and ordered the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to ensure future inspections of all buildings to avoid other incidents.
What is under investigation is the cause of the incident. Initial reports say that it could come from short circuit failure, and this emphasizes the vital need for such fire safety measures in every commercial building in Karachi.
