A terrifying event was revealed in the Samanabad area of Faisalabad when a minor girl fled from an intended marriage. She had run away from home on the day of the wedding to save herself from a forced marriage, allegedly set by her addict father to sell for money to an old man.
It was a concerned citizen who reported the event to the Virtual Child Safety Centre through the 15-emergency helpline, indicating the minor had taken up flight from her home to escape the enforced marriage.
The PSCA came into quick action and coordinated with the local cops who were able to reach the particular location where the girl was being held in safe custody.

According to the spokesman of PSCA, police accessed the parents in response to the girl’s complaint. The parents, apparently, begged pardon and gave a written commitment to the authorities that they would not coerce their daughter into wedlock or harm her in the future. The girl was then released home under very stringent conditions.
The PSCA has taken great strides in bringing up the public on community involvement in the prevention of vulnerable children. The public can call the 15-emergency helpline and select option 3 for any concerns about the safety of children.
It shows how desperately child protection issues and forced marriage need to be addressed in society.
