South Korean Police is about to arrext president over martial law

An investigation has been launched into “treason” charges against President Yoon Suk Yeol by police from South Korea following his failed attempt to impose martial law. The probe is led by a special team examining two complaints: one from the minor opposition Rebuilding Korea Party and another from a group of 59 activists.

The complaints also accuse former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Park An-su, and Interior Minister Lee Sang-min of treason and related offenses. After Yoon proclaimed martial law on Tuesday night, he had to revoke it just hours later due to widespread opposition from lawmakers.

In retaliation for the failure of the martial law attempt, six opposition parties with the Democratic Party at the lead filed an impeachment motion against Yoon and former Defense Minister Kim. Kim, for his part, has resigned and placed on a no-fly list. The impeachment vote against Yoon is slated for Saturday.
