Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif guaranteed that the government would address Moalana Fazlur Rehman‘s reservations regarding the Madrassah Registration Bill during a phone call on Friday, where Maulana Fazlur Rahman raised concern over the bill. According to a JUI-F spokesperson, the prime minister has pledged to resolve the party’s grievances while assuring that religious seminaries would always be protected.

“We will not let anyone mar the reputation of religious seminaries,” said Maulana Fazlur Rehman, adding that the prime minister should avoid getting embroiled in any controversies on this matter.
Before this on Wednesday, the PPP chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, had a meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad. The Maulana mentioned in that meeting that it was unfortunate that even after being sanctioned by both houses of parliament, the Madrassah Registration Bill was not signed by the president. Bilawal, however, promised the JUI-F chief to raise the matter with the government for resolution.
