Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the PPP chairman, hailed the multi-party conference that was held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to discuss the worsening law and order in Kurram, and condemned the PTI-led provincial government for “practising their extremist politics at the expense of the people.” Such opinions were echoed by KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and representatives of various political parties whose focus has been turned against the PTI’s rhetoric, treating it as all about “violence and conflict,” for it seems to have absent itself from the conference.
The conference was held at the Governor House in Peshawar and witnessed participation from major political parties, such as the PPP, JUI-F, ANP, PML-N, QWP, JI, and others. A declaration issued after the conference revealed that more than 70 security personnel have been martyred in the year 2024, and more than 200 have been lost in armed clashes in the Kurram district.

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari welcomed Kundi’s initiative to “bring all political parties together in an effort to create political consensus and address the difficulties faced by the people of Pakhtunkhwa.” He stated that most effective means to tackle political, economic, and security challenges and to bring about the political consensus and stability necessary for the effectiveness is dialogue among political forces.
He accused the PTI-led government that neither addressing these issues nor contributing towards such actions. The APC was earlier called without PTI members, who declined the invitation.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also condemned the KP government for failing to summon such a multi-party conference, saying that this has been called by the executive, which is failing its responsibilities. He added that it is more about the status that the KP administration wishes to gain and not governance or peace.
