In January 2024, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is going to start-up its flights once again to Europe, which initially fly for Paris.
The decision was announced after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) lifted the ban on PIA that was imposed in 2020.
PIA’s flights were suspended after the authority was said to have failed to meet international aviation standards. This restriction was imposed after a scandal about the authenticity of pilots’ licenses erupted following a plane disaster that killed 97 people in Karachi.

“We have received approval for the first flight schedule we submitted”, PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan confirmed the development. He mentioned that bookings for the planned January 10 flight flying into Paris with a Boeing 777 will open on December 9.
The airline also plans to progress towards the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT) with an eye on resuming routes to Britain. Khan noted, that as soon as permission was given, London, Manchester, and Birmingham would be at the top of the list.
