Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz of Punjab flew into Beijing on March 3, 2012, for an eight-day official visit to the People’s Republic of China, a visit that comes on the invitation of the International Development Department of China’s ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Maryam Nawaz mentioned on X that the purpose of the visit is modernization in infrastructure, strengthening health systems, improving education, clean energy initiatives, investments in the IT sector, and smoke mitigation.

She is accompanied by a high-level delegation, which includes senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, provincial Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, and Agriculture Minister Ashiq Kirmani.
During this trip, she will visit Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. The Chief Minister will also hold meetings and participate in various events and conferences this visit.
