Trump pledges to pardon those convicted in US Capitol attack

Trump has made it clear that he will hit the ground running once he is inaugurated on January 20. One of his first actions will include pardoning those tried in connection with the insurrection that took place at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. He expressed his concern over what he termed “a very nasty system” that kept some of them incarcerated for too long. There could be exceptions, Trump noted, especially for those whom he termed “radical” or “crazy. ”

On January 6, 2021, far-right groups stormed the Capitol with Trump’s supporters as Congress assembled to convene for certification of the election results of the presidential elections earlier held in 2020. The action drew worldwide rebuke.
