PTI’s Omar Ayub Calls for Negotiations, Warns of Civil Disobedience

Omar Ayub, PTI leader and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, said that his party was ready for dialogue with anybody, human or even angel, to settle ongoing political issues. He told the media after his appearance Monday in the Peshawar High Court that if demands are not met, the party will launch a civil disobedience movement.

After a meeting with PTI’s founder on December 5, Ayub, Hamid Raza, and Salman Akram Raja were made members of the negotiating committee that would push for the withdrawal of cases filed against PTI leaders and workers.

Ayub explained that the larger political scene in Pakistan could only be described as being under a kind of martial law, with ordinary people unsafe from terrorism sponsored by the state. The government makes use of modern weapons against peaceful protesters, while a sharp rise is seen in the number of first information reports registered against members of PTI.

On a personal note, Ayub stated that his car and the money inside it disappeared. He also added that he was shot at with a shell on the Hazara Motorway, and when he tried to ask for an explanation from the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police, both of them answered him. He has applied to the FIR against the IG Islamabad at Haripur police station.

Accompanied by Senator Shibli Faraz, MNAs Shaukat Yousafzai, and Muhammad Asif Khan, all of whom had concerns about the current political situation, Ayub announced a condolence reference on Friday for the casualties and disappearances in recent protests.

To a question about Faisal Vawda, the former member of the PTI, Ayub said currently it was not clear under whose party banner Vawda was.
