Road travel has been paralyzed in many portions of Punjab because of thick fog. It has therefore led to the closure of Motorway M2 between Babu Sabu Interchange and Thokar Niaz Baig for all sorts of traffic. This was notified by Motorway Police, saying the gathering of such fog required this closure because visibility around is too low, and it poses serious threats to the entire movement.

Motorway Police have pointed out that citizens should avoid traveling in the wee hours and should make it a point to move from 10 am to 6 pm when the fog usually lifts. Drivers have also been reminded to operate lights both at the front of their vehicles and at the back, keeping a safe distance from one another to prevent accidents in fog conditions.
Safety guidelines and the importance of exercising caution on highways have been reiterated by the authorities. Citizens should also refrain from traveling without need and contact the Motorway Police Helpline at 130 in case of queries or emergencies.
