Ambassador Usman Jadoon, Pakistan’s Acting Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has made a call globally where action is needed urgently to address humanitarian crises due to foreign occupation and climate change. He addressed the General Assembly and stated the facts of how alarming the increase in conflicts has been since 1945, where currently over 308 million people are in dire need of humanitarian aid.
He praised the resilience of UN humanitarian agencies, especially UNRWA, which has lost 228 staff members in Gaza since October 7. The envoy condemned Israel’s attempts to undermine UNRWA’s operations, labeling them violations of international law.

Ambassador Jadoon urged member states to end Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories and hold it accountable for alleged war crimes. He highlighted the impact of natural disasters, such as droughts, floods, and heat waves, which disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.
According to Pakistan’s experiences regarding climate emergencies, such as disaster preparedness, early warning systems, and risk reduction strategies, he noted the need towards them. This was a call to strengthen Geneva Convention enforcement with innovative financing mechanisms to address conflict and climate change.
Ambassador Jadoon reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to youth leadership, especially in conflict zones like Kashmir and Palestine. He urged the international community to amplify young voices and protect their rights.
