If a thing could not be resolved through talk, no option would be left for PTI but to come back to the streets for protest”. He condemned the barbaric violence against PTI supporters who remained peaceful. “Our people faced brutal oppression; bullets were fired at unarmed protesters. Nowhere else in the world are demonstrators treated with such savagery. Consider recent protests in Brazil and other nations; did they resort to firing on protesters who entered government buildings?” he argued.
As regards an incident outside parliament, Gohar dismissed Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s allegations saying that the guards of Ali Amin Gandapur were responsible for the gunfire. “It is ridiculous that the government denies the use of live ammunition on protesters,” he stated. In response to accusations of using abuses of ethnic sentiments, he categorically denied using the “Pashtun card.” He said, “Our protestors were unarmed. If there is any evidence of PTI workers carrying weapons, produce it. Such baseless allegations are to discredit us.”
