Recently, The Executive Council of Sharjah has opted to institute a new decision that facilitates releasing prisoners subject to certain conditions. This decision was announced on Tuesday, permitting close consideration of inmates under parole after serving three-fourths of their sentences. This type of parole will include some restrictions and can be granted for either one month or even longer.

For example, those serving a life sentence will perhaps be granted conditional release only after 20 years. However, whether or not an inmate is granted this conditional release rests at the discretion of the Commander in Chief of Sharjah Police, while public prosecution in the emirate is notified.
The ruling also stipulates the grounds for awarding a prisoner parole, possible grounds for refusing the release, grounds for revoking it, as well as executive procedures for the same. It includes also the measures for enforcement and publication of the order.
