The Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) has announced the CM’s Skilled Punjab Program – International Placement, which is meant to equip the youth of Pakistan with competencies and abilities for the international arena. The GDP value of remittances fell by as much as 21% in 2021, as confirmed by the Asian Development Bank, therefore these remittances represent an essential brace for Pakistan’s economy.
PSDF will bring all its intervention efforts to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region; however, among the countries, Saudi Arabia constitutes a major source market for Punjab’s skilled workers.

In the first phase of the program, about 10,000 individuals will be trained in other courses including health care, construction, hospitality, and retail focusing on international job placements. With a demand for skilled labor globally, these industries or sectors hold a high potential for placements. Adnan Afzal Chattha, Chairperson of the CM Task Force on Skills Development stressed that this means indirect sectoral training that will optimize employment opportunities for citizens abroad while allowing flow of knowledge and innovation.
The said program will make Pakistan a potential source of very skillful professionals for the future financially sound youth of the country and relieve its economic burden by increasing remittances.
