Francesca Albanese, the United Nations special rapporteur on Palestine, has urged an immediate halt on all direct arms transfer to Israel and a full review of the country’s credentials at the United Nations. At a news conference in Geneva, Albanese stated much on the human rights violations in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. She indicated that more than 44,000 people have been killed by Israeli snipers and bombs, with 70% women and children. On top of that, Albanese mentioned that, seriously, over 100,000 are injured and many are living in makeshift camps without food or clothes.
Now joining Albanese were Margaret Satterthwaite, Ben Saul, and George Katrougalos-all UN experts. The experts attacked the attacks on ICJ as verbal. The ICJ is currently seized of major matters linked to what’s going on in Gaza. The issues include an accusation by Israel about genocide and challenges against Germany on armaments to Israel.

Albanese said that the whole population of Gaza has been uprooted and nearly 19,000 children have been brought to hospitals in the previous four months because of acute malnutrition. In addition, she confirmed that humanitarian aid finally reached the West Bank, where Israeli security operations, which aggravate the suffering of Palestinians, are intensifying.
But the ICJ has also issued arrest warrants against Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes committed in Palestinian territories. Satterthwaite indicated her concern at continued verbal attacks against the ICJ that included accusations of antisemitic bias and threats of sanctions against ICJ officials.
