The Kremlin announced Thursday that US President-elect Donald Trump did not invite Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to be present at his inauguration sometime next January. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, was only heard speaking to journalists in Moscow to confirm that no invitation was made. The statement comes from CBS News’s story that reports Trump inviting Chinese President Xi Jinping to the event, a movement, as sources say, took place shortly after the elections.

Peskov also replied to the claims from the Russian Defense Ministry that it had destroyed six ballistic missiles manufactured in the USA which Ukraine had fired at Taganrog military airfield in the Rostov “region.” He had re-stated the position that Moscow would choose when and by what it considers appropriate to give a reply to the attack but stressed the fact that the response would follow. The ministry stated that minor damages to installations and vehicles in proximity to the airfield were caused by fragments from the intercepted missiles.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed his fighting men with words of gratitude for “tangible blows on Russian facilities,” among them military and energy installations. No word yet from Ukrainian authorities regarding the incident.
