In a warning to the government, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman threatened nationwide protests if the notification of the Madrassa Registration Bill is not issued at once.
Speaking at a press conference, he stated that under the Constitution, a bill automatically becomes law if not signed within 10 days. He criticized the government for delaying the notification while the bill had been passed unanimously by both houses of Parliament.

Fazlur Rehman said that the draft prepared by the Ministry of Law was finalized in talks with regard to the 26th Constitutional Amendment and granted input by important parties like the PML-N and PPP. He lauded institutional interference in the decision-making process, condemned the deteriorating law and order in the southern districts, and charged the government for pushing the country toward chaos.
The JUIF Chief, however, announced a party conclave on December 16 and hinted at the possibility of legal recourse if the matter remains unresolved.
