Judicial Commission to Evaluate IHC Judicial Nominees

The names of the 10 candidates nominated for postings in the IHC (Islamabad High Court) have come into the public eye just ahead of a crucial meeting of the Judicial Commission, scheduled for December 21.

As per the recommendations of the Islamabad High Court Chief Justice, the nominees for this Federal Judicial Services are District Judges Shahrukh Arjumand and Azam Khan. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan nominated Advocate Kashif Ali Malik, while the Islamabad Bar Council representative Zulfiqar Ali proposed Advocate Syed Qamar Hussain Shah Sabzwari. Senior Judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah suggested Advocate Sultan Mazhar Sher Khan.

Four names have been forwarded by Senator Farooq H. Naek: Qamar Hussain Sabzwari, Umar Aslam Khan, Daniyal Ijaz, and Kashif Ali. Also, Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar has been nominated by Roshan Khurshid Barocha.

The Judicial Commission will consider these nominations at its next session an important step in the direction of building up the judicial system.
