The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has brought up a list of 47 Pakistanis rescued from a tragic boat that capsized closer to Greece, off the coast of Crete Island. The threat is what really magnifies this instance-the dangerous journey migrants take to find greener pastures.
According to interviews conducted by the Embassy of Pakistan in Athens and details provided by officials of Greek authorities, some of the names on the list are Umer Farooq, Muhammad Ahmad Shahzad, Mohsan Riaz, Talha, Raja Sajid, Raja Omar Nasir, Mehtaab Rafaqat, Amir Habib, Muhammad Safdar, and a few more.
According to the initial report, one Pakistani is now included in the fatalities, but an unspecified number of deceased or missing Pakistani nationals remains. The Embassy of Pakistan in Athens is currently in touch with the Hellenic Coast Guard and Coast Guard of Chania, as both agencies are in charge of search and rescue operations.
