The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has granted protective bail to leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Omar Ayub and Faisal Amin Gandapur thus barring their arrest under the registration of any case. This hearing comes in respect of the transit bail petitions filed by these PTI leaders, Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Waqar Ahmed presided over it.
In his point of argument, Omar Ayub’s counsel stated that he was already facing 50 cases in October, for which he had obtained bail. However, another wave of cases established 34 more cases against him, and hence he sought more protection from the court. The court observed that this cycle of cases would continue unless the government reached a compromise with the petitioner. Furthermore, addressing the Additional Attorney General, the court urged the latter to concentrate on the fresh registrations of cases rather than the old ones.

Omar Ayub informed the court that he was arrested near Adiala Jail after having protective bail and was held in some unspecified cases. The court, on the other hand, stated it would seek the details of all registered cases known and unknown. The court went ahead and granted protective bail with regards to Omar Ayub and Faisal Amin Gandapur until February 18 barring arrest for any registered cases against them. The hearing was later adjourned.
