Once it goes operational in the year 2029 on the 9th of September, the newly developing Dubai Metro Blue Line becomes a reality. This announcement has been made by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The launch date of the new line becomes crucial as it is the same day as the start of operations for the original Dubai Metro the 9 of September in 2009.
A contract valued at Dh20.5 billion has been sealed between Turkey’s Mapa and Limak, and China’s CRRC for the construction of the Blue Line, which it will extend to 30 kilometers with 14 stations. It will have 28 trains running and is expected to serve 200,000 passengers by 2030, which is forecasted to rise to 320,000 by 2040, apart from providing an expected 20% relief from the estimated massive traffic congestion.

The new metro line will now link Dubai International Airport to portions of the city in addition to these: Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1 and 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Dubai Festival City. Thus, a travel time of 10 to 25 minutes is anticipated on sections served by this line.
Central to the vision of a “20-minute city” where 80% of essential services shall be accessed in 20 minutes is the Blue Line. Thus, the Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040; according to residents, it’s good news regarding lowering travel prices with convenience.
the stations will be of new design-modern and futuristic, both from the structures and from the aesthetics, totally different from the former Red and Green Lines. Property values and rents will soar as the areas served by the Blue Line include International City, Silicon Oasis, Ras Al Khor, Mirdif, and Al Warqa, resulting from the positive economic impact that the line will bring.
