According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) in the UAE, a public holiday will be on January 1, 2025, during which government employees will be celebrating the New Year. Government offices will resume their work on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has declared the holiday on January 1, 2025, as a paid public holiday for every private sector worker.
This is the first public holiday for 2025, is to the official UAE holidays list; residents can anticipate a total of 13 public holidays in all for the year 2025. There is, however, one important difference where Eid Al Fitr holiday is shorter. It is for four days of break, unlike the nine days off in 2024.

The other public holidays are usually moved to the weekends preceding or following the actual holiday by the UAE Cabinet. Eid holidays will not be moved; other public holidays can be planned anywhere along the week, but weekends cannot have a holiday moved to weekdays. In case of a need, each of the Emirates may declare different holidays as necessary.
This much-publicized announcement gives hours of planning for next year into the first holiday of 2025 but also makes it possible for every employee in the public or private sector to prepare ahead for their needs.
