According to insiders, the cabinet is likely to approve recommendations for the second phase of the rightsizing of government departments and ministries. Five ministries were invited to participate in the second phase: the Board of Investment, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, the Ministry of Housing and Construction, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
It is likely that the approval of such recommendations would abolish thousands of seats and close many institutions. The move is to clean up the governance system and reduce unauthorized expenditures.
Rightsizing is part of broader reforms to meet the economic challenges of the country and improve the efficiency of institutions.
