Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Calls for Youth to Defend Digital Rights

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the PPP chairman, has expressed uneasiness about the tendency of the government to invade digitization. Young people should, he added, stand up against any government imposition on high-speed internet and digital rights. His address at IBA Sukkur echoed the need for the youth population to keep strong against all measures trumped on their rights. “I’m proud that my deceased mother founded this university,” he said, referring to the institution, Benazir Bhutto. “It is known throughout the world, drawing students from all over the country.”

Bilawal knew the government’s tendency for synchronizing a lot under its control to include educational institutions, as well as individual freedoms. He further encouraged youth to resist this effort of centralization and call for their rights. “Every generation has fought for its rights. Democracy was not a gift; it was won through struggle,” he stated as testimony of the young people’s role in movements from colonial to modern times.

Referring to the eras of General Zia-ul-Haq and General Pervez Musharraf, he spoke of the hard times faced but noted that the current era of digital space is facing maximum threat. According to Bilawal, his nation prefers technology in enhancing economics, targeting a $ 1 trillion economy through a tax sector release and making high-speed internet accessible to everyone.

He invited the younger generation to lead the cause for digital rights peacefully and democratically, while also allowing ways for recognizing the right to high-speed internet through legal means. He further added that data privacy is a basic right. He added to students thereby soliciting their comments in favor of a Digital Bill of Rights and pledged to bring such changes into reality.
