Tuesday saw snow storms wreak havoc in some parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where, at least, around 170,000 people were left without electricity. The situation got worse and left 127,000 metering points without power; repair efforts had been initiated all this while to remedy the faults.
Inside the report by Elektrokrajina, the company that serves the municipalities of the Serb entity in Bosnia, Republika Srpska, reported around 50,000 people without electricity. All available field teams have been deployed and have been working tirelessly since the early morning hours to repair the faults.

The western parts of Bosnia saw the announcement of a state of emergency on the basis of extremely partly entry and exit points into the municipality of Drvar, cut off with a population of 17,000 inhabitants. Some villages around Drvar have snowdrifts that reach from 0.6 to 2 meters in height, making it to clear my snow. “The situation is extremely difficult. The snow keeps falling. People are stranded in the snow,” Jasna Pecanac, president of the Drvar Municipal Council, stated.
Because of heavy snowfall, classes have been suspended in Banja Luka’s all elementary schools. Banja Luka is the second-largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the administrative center of Republika Srpska. Schools have also postponed classes in about 70 elementary schools and high schools in the Una-Sana Canton of northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina a day before.
