Pakistan Air Force Enhances Operational Ties with Azerbaijan

Maj. Gen. Gul Zia continued for us; he was accompanied by the Pakistan Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. At PAF Headquarters in Islamabad, he met with a top-level defense delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Deputy Minister of Defence Agil Gurbanov and Deputy Minister of Defence Commander of the Azerbaijan Air Force Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade. The Chief of the Air Force strongly stated his intention to further develop bilateral relations between the two countries and work to step up the operational capabilities of the Azerbaijan Air Force.

He discussed recent developments in the Pakistan Air Force which signify the direction towards operational excellence in today’s warfare. The Air Chief mentioned the importance of training cooperation with a detailed contingent of air and ground crew of Azerbaijan currently undergoing training at an operational PAF base.

The dignitaries appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force personnel and the progress achieved by the Pakistan Air Forces in developing indigenous capabilities within the aviation industry. They were also satisfied with the training provided to seventy aircrews and technicians but stressed the need for furthering Air Force-to-Air Force cooperation.

The Azerbaijan military hierarchy went ahead to suggest a well-developed training program covering niche and disruptive technologies, and cyber and electronic warfare capabilities. An excursion to PAF Cyber Command was later undertaken by the team to be briefed on the operational capabilities and ongoing projects under the modernization drive of PAF.

The visit actually signifies commitment, strengthening relations of military partnership between the two countries and collaboration for strong relations.
