OGDCL, being a 100% owner of this well, has termed the discovery as a significant deliverable towards energy self-sufficiency in Pakistan and further announced plans for drilling in the area to discover more reserves. Following the announcement, the new development is something similar to what Mari Petroleum Company had achieved a month back in July, following the discovery of new gas reserves in Sindh.
This reported 3 MMSCFD addition to its daily production now comes from five new wells drilled by Mari Petroleum in the Ghazij Gas Field, which at present are being tied into the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). Growing more such discoveries address the strengthening case for energy self-sufficiency and further exploration of the oil and gas sector within Pakistan.
