PCB Decides Pakistan’s New White-Ball Coach

Former Pakistan fast bowling sensation Aqib Javed is likely to step into Gary Kirsten’s shoes as the new head coach for Twenty20 and other white-ball formats of the game in an attempt to rebuild and renew Pakistan’s T20 setup.

Reportedly, there is a buzz within the media circles that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to make an announcement about Gary Kirsten’s exit as Pakistan’s white-ball coach. As per the information received, it has been announced that former Pakistan pacer Aqib Javed will assume another important position with the squad.

The New Position of Aqib Javed

Aqib Javed, who has served as a selector for the national team, is now expected to be unveiled as the team’s new white-ball head coach. Recently, it has been observed that he has been credited for Pakistan’s winning performance in the Test Series with 2-1 against England. After this achievement in red-ball cricket, the officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have high hopes that he will be able to achieve similar success in the white-ball formats as well.

Pakistan’s T20 Issues

Despite winning a series against Australia in January 2017 by 2-1 Husband 2007 described this as the main series stride Markson C Webb against ozzies since 2002, the T20 side has been faltering however. The top brass of the PCB are convinced that the fortunes of the team can be restored with the assistance of Aqib’s abilities and tactics. The management’s decision to appoint Aqib is viewed as a strong step towards improving Pakistan’s T20 cricket.

Changes After Gary Kirsten

Kirsten quit the position of white-ball coach as he fell out with the PCB. His position was reduced to that of only being a ‘match day strategist’ and not coach anymore as most important discussions regarding squad and playing XI selection were done by the Selection Committee. Meanwhile, following Jason Gillespie’s tenure with the red-ball format in Pakistan, the former Australian left-arm willow wielder assumed the role of the head coach for the white-ball team on their Australian tour.

To summarize

Aqib Javed’s Appointment as Pakistan National Team’s white ball head coach has brought concrete changes to the structure of the team. Praise for his achievement and tactical adeptness leads one to believe that the T20 vision for the Men in Green can only enhance under his stewardship.
