According to the former federal minister, Sajid Hussain Turi, a minimum of 128 children have died from in Parachinar conflict since the conflict erupted almost three months ago. Violent tribal clashes in Kurram have cut the region from the rest of the country, with over 100 lives lost. closed the Parachinar-Peshawar highway since November 21 following an attack on a convoy of vehicles that killed at least 50 people.
This blockade was mentioned by the Central Government on December 27 while flying about one ton of drugs by helicopter to Para. A grand jirga comprising local officials, former lawmakers, and tribal elders from Kohat couldn’t reach an agreement even after holding a couple of sessions. Protests are going on in the area for the past 10 days since Sabz Ali Turi stated that 37 children died at the Kurram District Headquarters Hospital since the conflict began, adding that the number of deaths of children in total in all hospitals of the area stood at 128.
The hospitals are in shambles, the schools have been closed, and there is no petrol or gas. In the absence of these resources, heart patients and mothers in labor have also perished. Over the last 85 days, the situation has become more and more serious.
In Karachi, the Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) continued their nationwide sit-ins against the killings in Parachinar, blocking major roads. Discussions with police and city officials have not come to any conclusion, while the sit-ins are intended to continue.
