On Monday, the Planning Minister, Ahsan Iqbal, announced that the National Economic Transformation Plan will be launched next year, covering five years. While delivering his address at the 47th Specialized Training Programme of Pakistan Administration Service in Lahore, Iqbal delineated the plan that aims to promote an export-based economy and attaches importance to e-commerce domains that include automation, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence. In addition, he mentioned that the manpower of Pakistan should be merged with the newest technologies for the subsequent development of the country.

Iqbal also told civil servants that they should optimally use their energies to tackle public issues arguing that civil service is a responsibility more than a mere job.
