Babar Azam Nominated for ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year Award

The batting maestro from Pakistan, Babar Azam, has been nominated for the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year Award for the year 2024. The announcement came on Sunday as Babar was up against three other phenomenal cricketers in the nomination: India’s Arshdeep Singh, Australia’s Travis Head, and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza.

Though the year was sort of ambivalent for Babar, he could set some records. He has played 24 matches, scored 738 runs, averaged 33.54, hit some six half-centuries, and close to 100 boundaries. His most spectacular performance, however, was in the series against Ireland, where he scored 75 runs off only 42 balls. His outstanding performance included six fours and five sixes and was clocked at a strike rate of 178.57.

Babar also improved his strike rates to reach 133.21, which augurs well for Pakistan’s future in the T20 format. It makes him one more contender for the highly coveted ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year Award. Cricket fans across Pakistan are now waiting for the results with bated breath.
