KP Extends Winter Vacation for Schools Due to Extreme Cold

The Education Department of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has extended a week of holidays in winter vacations for all schools in the region on account of the ongoing severe cold, according to a notification issued on Monday.

The schools open on January 7 instead of January 1. The increasing weather has dropped further and evaporated the safety and health of concerned students on their way to school in the early mornings under freezing conditions.

Earlier, the winter break was first declared by the KP authorities between December 22 and December 31 for schools in plain areas. Those schools in the hilly regions were closed because of extreme weather conditions from December 22 to February 28.

Meanwhile, the Punjab has closed its schools for 20 days during winter vacations. This began on December 23, 2024, and will close on Friday, January 10, 2025.
