The 21-year-old sprinkled dancer has not only made history for Denmark but also the world by being crowned Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico City on Saturday night, among over 120 contestants. That night, Victoria was crowned with the tiara which was given to her by the former titleholder Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua.
The Competition
The event was co-anchored by Mario Lopez and Olivia Culpo and featured a performance by the singer Robin Thicke. The beauty pageant made 30 finalists who competed after a preliminary round which had a display of national costumes. After that, contestants appeared in swimsuits and evening gowns and took part in a question-and-answer session. Victoria impressed the jury with her confident stance and opinions. She was asked what she would do differently if she did not fear any judgment. She remarked that she does not wish to change anything and emphasized that she lives every single day to its fullest. She urged everyone to push themselves further, ‘I stand here today because I want a change, I want to make history.’

Runners-Up and Finalists
The first-runner up and second-runner up was Chidimma Adetshina of Nigeria and Maria Fernanda Beltran of Mexico respectively. Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand and Ileana Marquez Pedroza from Venezuela filled the rank fourth and fifth respectivel. Pedroza who is a 28-year-old mother became the first since present trend melted barriers as the contest now permits contestants above 28 years of age.
Significant Changes in Miss Universe 2024
This year marks significant changes in the history of the famous beauty contest. For the very first time, there was no restriction on weight; marriage, motherhood, and exceeding the age of 28 were not an impediment to competing. Beatrice Njoya of Malta became the very first 40-year-old finalist. Such developments tell a lot about the detribalization of the pageant.

Some countries like Cuba, Belarus, Eritrea, and the UAE competed in the event for the very first time.
