In a notice issued by the Karachi Traffic Police, alternative routes have been advised ahead of IDEAS 2024, encouraging motorists to adhere to the outlined routes to ease the traffic congestion that will be experienced during the period of the event scheduled for November 19 to November 22.
Traffic Management For IDEAS 2024 In Karachi
Karachi Traffic Police has released a new set of alternative routes for the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024. This exhibition, dedicated to new developments in defense technologies, will be held at the Karachi Expo Center from November 19 to 22.
Construction and Road Closures
Most important roads that lead to and around the Expo center shall be closed from 7 am to 7 pm during the period of the exhibition. Sir Shah Muhammad Suleman Road from Hassan Square to the Stadium will be closed. In addition, University Road and Stadium Road leading to the Expo center will also be closed off access.
Alternative Proposed Routes
Barricades will be erected, but small vehicles can use roads that are close to the Expo Center. Heavy traffic is, however, not permitted. All roads from the Hassan Square Flyover to the National Stadium Road will be blockaded alongside Dalmia Road to Hassan Square. Access from Nipa on University Road while bypassing the left side of the Expo Center will be cut off as well. Water tankers and other heavy vehicles that are coming from Sharea Faisal will be redirected to Drigh Road. All heavy traffic along Rashid Minhas Road to Stadium Road shall be cut off and will use Sharea Faisal or Nipa Chowrangi Road instead.

Traffic Re-routing
Nipa and Jail Chowrangi traffic will be rerouted toward Shaheed-e-Millat Road or Teen Hatti Road. Additionally, vehicles coming from Liaquatabad No. 10 will proceed toward Hassan Square but will be turned towards Teen Hatti Road. It is advisable for the Drivers coming in from Ha Quaid to use the alternative route Gharibabad to Sharea Faisal or alternatively, Hassan Square and Nipa to Sir Shah Suleman Road.

These measures are taken in consideration of the high-profile event to control the flow of traffic and ensure that visitors and residents can still move about freely.
