Expressing disappointment over the riots occurring a day after his attempts to broker peace between delegations in Kurram, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman told media persons.
Fazlur Rehman said at an event held in the Nishtar Hall of Peshawar that there is very little quality in the democracy and parliamentary politics of this country.
He stated, “How long to misguide this society? Delegations from both sides came to me, and we laid the groundwork for resolution, and riots erupted the next day.”
The JUI-F leader also revealed that a diplomat had recently visited him to discuss various matters, including the situation in Kurram. “I told him, you want to label this as a Shia-Sunni conflict. We know how to resolve the issue,” he stated.

Fazlur Rehman made it clear that his activities had been frozen for two weeks but resumed from that day. He stressed the importance of his elders in making Pakistan an Islamic state while telling the importance of changing with time.
On January 5, Section 144 was imposed on Kurram for a period of two months for the maintenance of peace and order, following unrest stemming from the firing incident in which the deputy commissioner was significantly injured.
The deputy commissioner was attacked, and a case has been registered in the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station against such suspects.
