After a break from its fabrication of LCD laptops, Google is ready to undertake yet another project, i.e., to invent a new high-end Pixel Laptop codenamed Snowy. Such an ambitious endeavor seeks to rival high-end laptops such as the Apple Macbook Pro, the Dell XPS, Microsoft Surface, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook, etc. With the project officially greenlit, Google has moved past the concept phase and assembled a dedicated team to bring it to life.
Early Facts
In the early facts, there was a suggestion that the computer would probably use Chrome OS. However, a report from Android Authority raises the possibility of it having Android, which is in line with Google’s research on synthesizing Android and Chrome OS. This potential turn could, in fact, change the whole perception of Pixel Laptop in the market, as it would come with a fully-furnished experience like no other.

Previous Attempts by Google
This is, however, not the first time Google has tried its hand at laptops, but rather, this stands to be the most aggressive one. The first Chromebook Pixel, which was introduced in the year 2013, had a premium design and features that created a serious threshold but did poorly because it was very expensive after that came the Pixelbook and the Pixelbook Go, which were encouraging developments but did not elevate Google to the status of a contender in the laptop business.

At this point, “Snowy” intends to accomplish the opposite of that. With premium design, advanced features, and comparisons to top-tier competitors, this project signals Google’s resolve to take over the high-end laptop market1. The question of whether it will be a Chrome OS laptop, Android, or a combination of both is still an open one.
