Such training involves collectiveness in times of environmental challenge per President Shavkat Mirziyoyev-at a tree-planting event under the “Yashil Makon” initiative.
Tashkent (TDI): “This indeed is the most rouse collective efforts in solving all types of environmental problems,” the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, emphasized during the tree-planting ceremonial event of the initiative “Yashil Makon” or “Green Space” for overall greening and relief of some very pressing ecological problems of the country. Mirziyoyev participated in flanking the new green belt being laid around the Tashkent Ring Road in the Bektemir district during the site planting. This 100-hectare area will be inhabited by 100,000 tree and shrub seedlings after 2 years, backed by 3 artificial reservoirs and 12 wells for irrigation.

Gratitude and Culture
At the ceremony, Mirziyoyev also thanked the wider public and foreign diplomats for their contributions: “This tradition runs deep in our culture. We regard nature as ‘mother’ and have always treated land and water with reverence,” adding urgency to ecological conservation-for he announced that next year would be the “Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy,” stressing that behavioral change approaches must be targeted especially towards the younger generation.
National Movements and Future Visions
Three years later, the “Yashil Makon” project turned into a large-scale public movement, renovating the age-old tradition of planting trees in the season. With this, Uzbekistan would pursue its ambitious target of 30 percent urban greening through setting up green belts around the cities. This autumn, 80 million saplings, shrubs, or seedlings will take root, following the earlier figure of 138 million planted in spring. Ministries and local administrations already have 257 parks in place, while tree planting continues around industrial zones, landfills, and infrastructure corridors.
