That Ukraine shot down about 50 Russian drones overnight was a report from the country itself. Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force had revealed the launch of 73 drones from Russia’s Oryol and Bryansk regions. All these drones were detected over Kyiv and the regions of Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Zhytomyr.
Ukraine track 19 drones, while four drones are still flying in the air. According to the head of the Kyiv city military administration, Serhiy Popko, the air alert lasted more than three hours over the capital, where a dozen drones were shot down without any reported damages or casualties.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has again claimed more air defense systems for Ukraine, noting that the matter is being addressed with partners. According to him, Ukraine is a sovereign state and not a test ground for weapons.
Russian authorities have yet to comment on the claims. Tension remains with the hanging call for defense and international assistance.
