Minutes after the cease-fire agreement with Israel, Lebanon commenced maintaining the Al-Masnaa border crossing with Syria-witnessed by Public Works Minister Ali Hamieh through his X account, revealing that his ministry began maintenance at the crossing and the highway linking Lebanon and Syria for its reopening.
The crossing area of eastern Lebanon had been subjected to airstrikes by Israeli aircraft last month that rendered it inoperative. Jdeidet Yabous, Dabousiyah, Jusiyah, Talkalakh, Matribah, and Arida are the six official border crossings between Lebanon and Syria. Almost all of them were struck by the Israeli army during the onslaught on Lebanon.

The agreement between Israel and Lebanon took effect on early Wednesday hours after US President Joe Biden announced that a deal to end the fighting had been reached, hoping it would keep Israeli warplanes out of Lebanese cities and towns and bring the yearlong, cross-border fighting to an end. Almost 3,800 of those killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon have been displaced from their homes. Also, according to Lebanese health authorities, the count of fatalities in previous attacks has reached more than one million since last October.
