Pakistan Blind Cricket Team Advances to Semi-Finals with Dominant Win

In the ongoing Blind T20 World Cup 2024, this was an estimated victory from the Pakistan Blind Cricket Team over Nepal, wherein they enjoyed their 10-wicket success and proceeded to the semi-finals. At the Ghani Institute Cricket Ground, Pakistan chased down 101 runs, winning the match by not losing any wickets in just 6.4 overs.

The opening batter’s innings were struck impressively, with Nematullah achieving the milestone in only 30 balls and being unbeaten on 73. Joined by Mohammad Safdar, who also set the team their fourth win in consecutive history in this tournament with a contribution of 24 not out off 14 balls. The victory came out after a walkover win over India this week.

Batting first, Nepal failed to create any challenge by only getting 100/5 in 18 overs. Bharat Thapa, who scored 39 off 46 balls, was the top scorer from Nepal, but there were no contributions at the other end, with Naresh Chaudhary making 17 runs from 17 balls.

The best bowler for Pakistan was Haroon Khan, 2/5 from his spell, while Muhammad Salman, Matiullah, and Nematullah took a wicket each. Nematullah was awarded the Player of the Match title due to his overall brilliance in batting and bowling.

In other news from the Blind T20 World Cup 2024, Sri Lanka made it three victories in a row after they won against South Africa with a margin of 53 runs. Suranga Sampat trumped all when it came to batting as he scored 56 runs from 33 balls, which helped Sri Lanka get an imposing 217/6. Otherwise, South Africa could make but162/9, despite valiant efforts made by their own players. Chandana Deshpriya and Saman Tushara were instrumental in their partnerships with the ball, for each took two wickets.

Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by eight wickets at the Bagh-e-Jinnah Cricket Ground. Afghanistan batted first and set the target of 149 runs in 18.2 overs. Bangladesh fulfilled the 149 runs within 12 overs, with Arif Hussain playing a play-saving 89 not out off 44 balls.

Now, the first stage of the Blind T20 World Cup 2024 in Lahore has ended. The next stage will begin on November 29 in Multan after a rest day on November 28.
